Five Towns College's Raine Mears Named North American Conference for Intercollegiate Athletics (NACIA) Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Dix Hills, NY – February 2, 2026 – Five Towns College proudly announces that Raine Mears has been named the North American Conference for Intercollegiate Athletics (NACIA) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period of January 26–February 1, 2026.
Mears earns the conference honor after delivering a standout performance in conference play, highlighted by a 34-point explosion in a decisive victory. She connected on seven three-pointers and went 7-of-10 from the free-throw line, showcasing her ability to score at all three levels. In addition to her scoring output, Mears contributed six rebounds, four steals, and three assists, impacting the game on both ends of the floor.
"Raine had an exceptional week," said the Five Towns head coach. "Her confidence and shot-making ability changed the dynamic of the game. When she's aggressive and locked in defensively like that, she elevates everyone around her."
Mears' leadership and offensive firepower helped power the Sound to a key conference victory as the team continues to push forward in league play. Her ability to stretch defenses with perimeter shooting while contributing defensively has been instrumental to Five Towns' recent success.
The Player of the Week recognition marks another milestone for the women's basketball program as it continues to make its presence felt within NACIA competition.
